Marsden State School currently has 1,432 students on our Prep - Year 6 campus. In 2024, these students are allocated to 58 classes.

Marsden State School is committed to providing quality education that nurtures and extends the academic, social, spiritual and physical development of all students.

At Marsden State School, we believe:

  • All curriculum is important, and we must maintain a relentless focus on prioritising resourcing, professional development, assessment and quality assurance processes to a narrow and focused improvement agenda.
  • Teams of teachers make high quality consensus decisions in deciding what skills and knowledge will be assessed when delivering relevant and engaging learning opportunities
  • Collective responsibility and collaboration rather than cooperation is necessary for teachers to build consistently high-quality pedagogy and reliable and rigorous assessment practices.
  • In using Inquiry Cycles, constructive and targeted feedback and research based, high yield strategies in teaching and learning.
  • Teaching and learning through an age-appropriate curriculum needs to be engaging whilst ensuring students know the learning intentions and success criteria and how it relates to their current or future world.
  • Social skills, persistence, resilience, positive behaviours for learning (PBL) and academic skills need to be taught consistently throughout the school to improve engagement and to support a calm learning environment.
  • Students require differentiated levels of support for both academic success and improved social/behavioural choices.
  • Positive communication, mutual respect, and transparency in decision making are the keys to developing and maintaining positive relationships with staff, students and families.
  • A high level of attendance for staff and students is important to promote learning.
  • In celebrating success and diversity.
