Marsden State School is proud to be in partnership with Scripture Union, a service which places Chaplains in schools to support the wellbeing and spiritual needs of students.
A School Chaplain is based at our school and supports students and families from our school community who wish to utilise this service. As a non-teaching staff member, Marsden's Chaplain operates as a support person and provides a listening ear and caring presence as students seek to deal with a wide range of issues such as family problems, friendship issues, peer pressure, self-esteem issues and self-control.
The Marsden State School Chaplaincy role is structured to provide resources to our students and families who are in need and also to provide social and emotional support to students in their daily school lives. Our Chaplain has a strong presence in the school and offers many services to our students and community. We have a long-standing partnership with Gospel Lighthouse who donate the food and goods that our Chaplain distributes to families in need. Our Chaplain also sources fruit and distributes this to students within the school. This ensures that all our students have brainfood to help them with their learning.
Our Chaplaincy service supports students in class where required. The Chaplain also runs lunchtime social skilling clubs where students are invited to to play games and talk with the Chaplain in a supportive and caring environment. The Chaplain also actively participates in school events such as sports days, awards ceremonies and interschool sports.
The Chaplain is a valued member of our Marsden State School community and is appreciated by students, staff and parents.
