At Marsden State School, we are proud to partner with Scripture Union to offer a Chaplaincy service that supports the wellbeing needs of our students.

Our School Chaplain, Chappy Fusi, is a valued member of our school community. As a non-teaching staff member, she plays a vital role in offering care, compassion, and a listening ear to students and families who choose to access this voluntary service. The Chaplain is available to support students facing a range of life challenges, including friendship issues, family difficulties, peer pressure, low self-esteem, and emotional regulation.

The Chaplaincy program at Marsden is designed to provide social and emotional support for students in their everyday school life. Chappy Fusi is actively involved across the school and offers a variety of services and initiatives, including:

  • One-on-one support and wellbeing check-ins
  • Lunchtime clubs focused on social skills, connection, and fun
  • In-class support when needed
  • Participation in school events such as sports days, awards ceremonies, and interschool competitions

We are deeply grateful for our ongoing partnership with Hope Centre, supported by Second Bite, who generously provide weekly donations of fresh fruit and essential food items. The fruit is made available to students who come to school without brain food, ensuring every child has access to the nourishment they need to support their focus and learning throughout the day. The additional food items— which vary from week to week— are thoughtfully distributed by our Chaplain to support families within our school community who may be experiencing hardship.

The Chaplaincy service is a well-regarded and appreciated part of life at Marsden, with students, staff, and parents all recognising the positive impact it brings to our school community.

If you would like to make an appointment with Chappy Fusi, please contact the school office on (07) 3489 9333. She is available at Marsden State School every Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
